Commercial kitchen gas interlock systems
Gas interlock systems cut-off the gas flow in the event of fan failures - now a mandatory requirement
ACK gas interlock systems operate by monitoring the operation of fans within the ventilation system via sensors which are installed on either side of the ductwork to monitor air pressure.
Gas interlock systems
Gas Interlock Systems are a mandatory requirement for most commercial kitchens when installing a new canopy, a new cooker line or layout, and with fitting of Category ‘B’ equipment such as ovens, deep fryers etc., including replacements to an existing layout.
Gas Interlock Systems (GIS) and are designed to cut-off gas flow in the event of kitchen extraction fan failures. They also ensure that the air flow rates achieved by commercial kitchen extract systems meet the minimum standards as set out by DW/172.
They operate by monitoring the operation of fans within the ventilation system via sensors which are installed on either side of the ductwork to monitor air pressure. These sensors are connected to an air differential switch which is activated when the pressure difference changes. An alternative option is to monitor the current used by the fan with a fan power sensor. A 230V gas interlock system monitors the switch/sensor and should a fan failure occur the gas solenoid valve will be closed and cut-off the gas flow to appliances.
We take pride in the design of ventilation systems for our customers and understand the need for effective solutions, including accurate monitoring and gas shut-off with gas interlock systems. If you’re looking to upgrade or install a commercial kitchen our design team will work with you to understand your plans on what you will be cooking, the capacity of the equipment and any further plans you might have for future expansion. From this initial fact finding and planning stage we can design the ideal system including the GIS, that fits both your budget and requirements.
